Welcome to Life Documented 2017 Week 51 with Karen Wall
Week 51 with Karen Meline Wall-
My name is Karen Wall and I am honored to be this week’s guest for December. I decided to create a page with a festive snowman and his tree.
Prompt: To add 'Sparkle' to your page in whatever way you desire!
Technique: Use paints and other supplies to make your page “sparkle”
Quote: “Don’t Let Anyone Dull Your Sparkle”
Brads (green, red and blue)
Diamond Dust by Twinklets
Distress Ink: Vintage Photo and Black Soot
Red and white bakers twine
Brown twine type ribbon for the tree
Wrinkle ribbon from Tim Holtz
The first thing I did was cut out some watercolor paper to match the size of my Art Journal. I’ll glue these pages in later. I added gesso and put gesso on a tag. I like to use a tag to say what the prompt is for the week. Next, add acrylic paint. Use different blues and greens to make a dark sky, and green grass area. I used a star stencil and white paint to make the stars for the sky. I added black soot distress ink around the edges to make it darker.
Cut out a snowman and add a carrot nose and a heart. The brown twine was used for his arm. The hat was made from some left over muslin with red paint on it and dabs of white for highlights. The scarf was made from wrinkle ribbon from Tim Holtz, painted red with some ink spray.
Glue the snowman to the paper along with the tree. Add brads or anything that looks like a circle to make the ornaments, buttons would be cute also. Add bows. These were pre-made bows, just because I’m not that great at making bows.
Print out your quote and add distress ink along the edges.
Add cheese cloth to look like snow and use diamond dust or stickles to give it a sparkly look. I made the tag the same way and added ribbon.
